One of my dear ones lives 12 miles off the coast of Savannah, Georgia. Diane Kaufman is one of my dearest friends. Over the past 16 years, we have been through a lot together. She is far from a fair-weather friend. The list of people that you know you can go to in a difficult time is very short. I am truly looking forward to this next chapter working with Diane.

Tybee island is one of the most charming places I’ve ever been. Diane’s business is Mermaid Cottages (www.mermaidcottages.com). Her focus is vacation rental cottages.

Tybee is essentially Savannah’s beach community. Iv’e helped Diane with cottages in the past. She has since become a protege of mine — in fact, my best student. In the next two months I’ll be journeying twice to Tybee and will be working with Diane.

Here is a taste of what the “Low Country” looks like. This will be the first of many posts about this enchanting cottage, built in 1938, and Tybee Island. Welcome to Dutton Waller Cottage.
